Abstract

The aims of this documentary research were 1) to study the economic concepts in Buddhism; 2) to study the economic theory of E.F. Schumacher; 3) to study the integration of Buddhist economics and Schumachers economic theory. The obtained data were analyzed by the descriptive analysis method. The research results were as follows:

The Buddhist economics has the appropriate solution to manage the demand characteristically through the middle path practices with the aim of creating happiness from the perfection of being human and charity to the underprivileged in the society. This is the goal of Buddhist economics.

Schumacher's economics says that most importance is humanity. The first production unit is the community. Any decision-making power should come from the community only and be very ecologically aware because humans and resources depend on each other. The resources must be used as economically as possible and the economic decisions must be based on the Buddhist principles of avoiding bad-deeds and doing good-deeds.
